A Note for caring for your piece
Each piece is crafted using iron, stone, and glass—materials chosen for their strength, permanence, and relationship to time. Depending on the design, metal elements are finished in one of two ways: a natural waxed finish or a sealed clear finish. Both are intentional. Both are correct. They simply age differently.
El Natural (Natural Waxed Finish)
Some pieces are finished with a natural wax or oil treatment that allows the iron to respond organically to its environment. This finish embraces gradual patina and surface change as part of the work.
What to Expect
- The metal will darken and develop character over time
- Surface changes occur slowly and naturally
- Color and texture will evolve with exposure and climate
This is not damage. It is the material doing what it has done for centuries.
Care & Maintenance
- No regular maintenance is required
- Rinse occasionally with clean water to remove dust or debris
- Avoid abrasive pads, wire brushes, or harsh cleaners
If desired, the surface can be refreshed periodically with a light coat of metal wax. This is optional, not required.
Sealed Metal Finish (Everbrite)
Some pieces are sealed with Everbrite, a professional clear coating used to preserve metal finishes and slow oxidation. This approach is chosen when maintaining the original surface—polish, color, or patina—is part of the design.
What to Expect
- The metal will retain its original appearance longer
- Weathering is significantly slowed, not eliminated
- Over time, outdoor exposure may require maintenance or reapplication
Sealants slow change; they do not stop it.
Care & Maintenance
- Rinse occasionally with clean water
- Clean gently with mild soap if needed
- Do not use abrasive materials or pressure washers
If the sealed surface shows signs of wear outdoors, reapplying Everbrite is the recommended method of refresh. Mixing different clear coatings is not advised, as compatibility and longevity can vary.
Everbrite Availability
Everbrite is available in liquid and aerosol form directly from Everbrite Coatings and through select retailers. For best results, we recommend purchasing from the manufacturer or a reputable supplier and following the product instructions carefully.
Stone Elements
Stone may be left natural or treated with a penetrating sealer depending on the piece.
- Natural stone will weather subtly over time
- Penetrating sealers reduce moisture absorption without changing appearance
- No routine maintenance is required
Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners.
Glass Elements
Glass requires no sealing or surface treatment.
- Clean with water or standard glass cleaner
- Avoid impact or pressure on mounted glass elements
Glass issues, if they occur, are almost always related to mounting stress rather than the glass itself.
Placement & Environment
All pieces are designed for outdoor display, but placement matters.
- Avoid direct sprinkler spray
- Ensure stable ground or base support
- Allow for natural drainage around the base
