I’ve always loved rocks.
Not just for their beauty, but for their resilience—for the way they stand as silent guardians, shaped by time and witness to a world that predates us all. While silent, the stones remember.
Of all the places I’ve wandered, the desert is the one that stays with me.
Its stone feels older than anything I’ve ever touched — raw, sun‑struck, and stripped down to its truth.
I love the way it holds nothing back. The way it stands there, unapologetic, carved by time and wind and heat, and still refuses to pretend to be anything other than what it is.
When I’m there, I feel that same honesty in myself. No noise. No polish. Just the core.
The mountains pull me in for different reasons.
There’s a steadiness in the way rock and tree share the same ground — one rooted, one rising, both shaped by seasons that don’t rush for anyone.
Up there, I feel the long arc of things. The slow work of time. The quiet rebirth that happens whether anyone is watching or not.
Those places remind me why I work with stone in the first place: it’s where I feel most like myself.
There are no ugly rocks.
But I do seek those with the right temperament—shape, texture, color, and presence. Each stone I select is chosen to anchor a piece, to ground it in story and strength.
